Set within the stunning Sutton Park, spanning 2,400 acres and attracting two million visitors a year, the family owned Blackroot Bistro is perched above Blackroot Pool on the edge of a natural meadow and adjacent to Hartopp car park.

Blackroot Pool was possibly named after a blackened stump of an old oak tree near the centre of the pool. It is renowned as a carp water with both the common and mirror carp thriving there. The carp have been known to reach monster proportions with the largest specimen tipping the scales at 35lb 13oz. 

The Bistro, as it’s affectionately known locally, was established in 2004 when a former scout hut was gutted and converted into the current format. The business was recently taken over by Darryl & Sarah, longstanding Sutton Coldfield residents, who enjoyed ‘The Bistro’ as customers for 14 years and loved it so much, decided to buy it when the opportunity came along. 

We seek to provide an informal, relaxed and welcoming vibe, offering food a drink from local suppliers wherever possible. We are proud to work with Pat the Butcher – Little Aston, Chartley Coffee – Hixon, Staffordshire and Tobizzy2bake home-made cakes from right here in Sutton Coldfield.
